Intern to Creative Executive: Abbie Campbell

Hey Gf! Ever wondered what it's like to work for Kiwi & Co? 

We’ve asked our newest addition to the team Abbie Campbell to answer a few questions for us on how she found her time interning at Kiwi & Co and how she managed to be kept on permanently as a Junior Creative Executive.

Do you have any qualifications in Fashion?

I am currently in my fourth year studying International Fashion Branding and Promotion at Glasgow Caledonian University. I also have a HND in Fashion Design and Production with Retail from Glasgow Kelvin College. 

How did you get the Internship?

One of Kiwis former employees had told me there was a position available for an internship at Kiwi & Co. I emailed help@kiwiandco.co.uk as well as one of the girls personal emails to see if they would take me on as an intern.

What were your roles?

I started my internship in April 2022 and worked 3 days a week alongside university on Monday, Tuesday and Fridays.

On Mondays I printed and packed customers orders from the weekend and then carried out some influencer outreach.

On Tuesdays I worked closely with Laura our Fashion Buyer, designing clothes for our new Autumn/Winter collection, as well as reviewing samples and contacting suppliers.

On Fridays I worked on marketing by creating content for Kiwis social media. I created interactive stories for Instagram and searched for trends and popular sounds to use on Tik Tok.

How did you get the job?

In July, after spending 3 months interning at Kiwi & Co, I was offered a job as a Junior Creative Executive. After the ideas and designs I had contributed to the new collection, I was asked to join the team permanently. My responsibilities now include artwork design and creations, social concepts and parcel wrapping 

Any Advice?

I would recommend interning at a smaller brand (like Kiwi) to someone interested in working in fashion. Interning at a smaller brand has allowed me to try out many different things and explore what I enjoyed the most and was best at, which has shaped the job I now have.
